The Registered Nurse ECMO Specialist provides direct nursing care to cardiac or respiratory failure patients requiring ECMO therapy within the Cardiovascular ICU. Responsibilities include patient management, monitoring, ECMO circuit maintenance, and rapid response for cannulation, equipment initiation, and setup. Initial training will occur within the Cardiovascular ICU as a staff RN, with the expectation of floating between staff RN and ECMO Specialist roles. While prior ECMO experience is beneficial, comprehensive training will be provided. The Cardiovascular ICU is a 24-bed unit serving critically ill cardiac/vascular patients.
