About The Position

The Community Heart & Vascular ECMO program is expanding, and we are excited to announce a more comprehensive ECMO program, elevating our critical care capabilities. This initiative unites our expert team of cardiac surgeons, intensivists, perfusionists, and ECMO Specialist RNs under standardized protocols to ensure seamless, coordinated care for critically ill patients. By formalizing our ECMO services, we establish clear pathways for patient selection, cannulation procedures, and ongoing management that align with national standards. This program signifies Community Health Network's commitment to our mission of providing exceptional care, offering hope and life-saving interventions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an NLN, CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA accredited school of nursing, or three years of related professional nursing experience.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana.
  • Minimum of 2 years of cardiac ICU experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Self-directed.

Nice To Haves

  • ECMO experience
  • 3 years+ experience in cardiac ICU preferred.
  • EPIC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to cardiac or respiratory failure patients requiring ECMO therapy within the Cardiovascular ICU.
  • Manages and monitors patients on ECMO.
  • Maintains the ECMO circuit.
  • Responds rapidly for ECMO cannulation, equipment/pump initiation, and set-up.
  • Floats between the staff RN role and the ECMO Specialist role within the Cardiovascular ICU.
