Registered Nurse Critical Care
About The Position
The Registered Nurse Critical Care works in the Critical Care Unit at Saint Thomas West in Nashville, Tennessee, on a full-time night shift. The nurse assesses patients’ physical and emotional needs, provides timely interventions, and develops and manages individualized care plans. The role includes monitoring patient progress and adapting care as conditions change, coordinating treatment with physicians and the broader care team, communicating patient updates, and carrying out provider-directed treatment plans. The nurse also prepares patients and families for discharge through education and coordination of next steps for a safe transition home or to another level of care.
Requirements
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Hold a Licensed Compact State Registered Nurse credential from the Tennessee Board of Nursing before hire or job transfer.
- Obtain either Advanced Life Support certification or Instructor specializing in Advanced Cardio Life Support within 180 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Have a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or the required professional licensure at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ physical and emotional needs and deliver timely interventions that support recovery and positive health outcomes.
- Develop and manage individualized care plans, track patient progress, and adjust care as conditions change.
- Coordinate care with physicians and the broader care team to ensure seamless, well-organized treatment.
- Communicate patient updates and carry out treatment plans in alignment with provider guidance.
- Prepare patients and families for discharge by providing education and coordinating next steps for a safe transition home or to the next level of care.
