About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by a specific special Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, located in Charlottesville, VA, is a Magnet status, 176-bed facility featuring all patient-friendly private rooms. Requirements

  • Valid RN License to practice in Virginia
  • Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • AT LEAST 2 yrs of RECENT bedside RN experience in general ICU - required
  • Experience in use of vasopressers (levephed, phenylephrine, vasopressin, dopamine as well as sedation meds like fentanyl, propofol, and precidex.
  • Experience with insulin gtts.
  • Experience with TNK, strokes, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, sepsis, CRRT, general surgeries, DKA, SI , ETOH. and, STEMIs.
