About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Critical Care Float Pool for a 13-week contract position in Utica, New York. The RN will provide high-acuity nursing care across multiple hospital departments and must be comfortable floating based on staffing and patient-care needs.

Requirements

• Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) License Required at Time of Submission.
• Minimum 2 Years of Recent Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nursing Experience Required.
• Current BLS and ACLS Certifications Required.
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Required.
• Prior Travel Nursing Experience Required; Must Be Willing to Float Throughout the Hospital, Including ICU, IMCU, ED Holds, and Medical-Surgical Units.

Responsibilities

• Provide critical care nursing for patients with conditions including stroke, sepsis, altered mental status, respiratory failure, CHF, cardiogenic shock, and post-STEMI care.
• Float to ICU, IMCU, Emergency Department holds, Medical-Surgical units, and other hospital departments based on staffing and patient-care needs.
• Manage high-acuity patients requiring specialized equipment such as IABP, CRRT, ventriculostomy, ICP monitoring, and targeted temperature management.
• Assess patient condition, recognize clinical deterioration, initiate appropriate interventions, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic while adapting safely to varying unit assignments and patient populations.
