About The Position

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday, 8-hour role for a Registered Nurse Coordinator with direct clinical oversight for nursing/clinical staff under the direction of the Ambulatory Nurse Director. The position is responsible for providing clinical expertise and leadership to the delivery of nursing care. This will be a flexwork (hybrid) position with 25% remote work, and will include travel to various clinics throughout SW Utah and Nevada (Las Vegas and surrounding area). The RN Coordinator II reports to the Ambulatory Nurse Director and plays a key role in clinical oversight, typically supervising a clinical staff of 45-50 employees. This position is included in strategic decisions specific to staffing models and oversight of staff performance.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
  • Two years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Clinical expertise in assigned clinical areas.
  • Working knowledge of clinical processes in the ambulatory setting.
  • Demonstrated communication skills in recommending quality, customer service, and safety improvement measures.
  • Experience mentoring clinical staff.
  • RNs hired or promoted into this role need to have or obtain their BSN within three years of hire or promotion.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • Two years of experience supervising clinical staff.
  • Familiar with healthcare facility construction and renovation projects, including familiarity with building blueprints.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory care regulatory requirements, including NV and UT state regulations, OSHA standards, and other applicable governing agencies.
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with clinic manager, projects staffing needs for current and following shift and/or department to provide optimal patient care.
  • Ensures that staffing levels/skill levels match census/acuities for the unit; coordinates cost-effective use of staff by ensuring appropriate staff-to-provider ratio.
  • Under the direction of the Ambulatory Nurse Director, collaborates with Clinic Manager to complete and conduct annual performance reviews of staff; enforces policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Responsible for initial and on-going counseling of staff for performance issues; collaborates with clinic manager for employee hiring, on-boarding and orientation.
  • Oversees competency of clinical staff through annual skills updates, ongoing educational in-services and completion of mandatory educational requirements.
  • Forecasts and communicates accurate information on admission, discharge and transfer to ensure appropriate patient placement.
  • Responsible for triaging and investigating event reviews categories A-E.
  • Responsible for clinic audits in a specified geographic area/clinic.
  • Assists with MA 1 Course and Second Day Orientation.
  • Communicates with appropriate caregivers on difficult / challenging patients to facilitate appropriate care needs; assists staff members with direct patient care as needed.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives (i.e. CQI, TQM, Lean, 100% participation, etc.).
