The Registered Nurse Clinic utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. This role administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act. The nurse performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care, documenting according to standards. They develop, initiate, and execute a patient plan of care according to individualized needs, as prescribed by a Physician and/or clinic policy, including patient and family instruction. The role also involves utilizing available resources to teach and support patient and family education, providing education at the appropriate level of understanding. The nurse acts to resolve systems breakdowns, engages self and others in providing solutions, and participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance. They use clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care, and utilize critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience, appropriately escalating to the chain of command. The position involves participation in the professional nursing continuum process, unit/department practice activities and decisions, and the peer review process. The nurse positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance. They engage in personal development, support system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines. The role actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization and offers ideas and/or solutions to practice issues, using innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care and provide innovative ways to educate patients/families. The nurse also initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet patient/family educational needs and actively participates in a minimum of one departmental or unit performance improvement activity, which may include shared governance.
