This RN position will predominantly support clinic triage needs. The teammate will be cross-trained to help with rooming to support clinic needs as well. The Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to provide ongoing care (assess, plan, intervention, and evaluation). They recognize and respond to changes in a patient's status and need for care, and determine priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs. The role involves providing triage and consultation to patients, families, and/or significant others according to protocol and organization guidelines. Communication with physicians and other members of the health care team is essential, as is documenting and communicating accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions. The nurse prepares and rooms the patient for examination by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information. They perform laboratory procedures, assist providers with procedures and surgeries, and administer medications under physician/provider orders. The role includes initiating, maintaining, and discontinuing IV therapy. The nurse assesses and provides basic to complex patient education and counseling, and follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times, and referrals. They may also perform advanced clinical tasks and assist in the development and implementation of staff orientation, competency, and educational activities. The nurse acts as an expert clinical and department resource and may provide work direction to other staff. Responsibilities also include organizing and preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment, as well as completing routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment.
