This RN position will predominantly support clinic triage needs. The teammate will be cross-trained to help with rooming to support clinic needs as well. The Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to provide ongoing care (assess, plan, intervention, and evaluation). They recognize and respond to changes in a patient's status and need for care, determining priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs. The RN provides triage and consultation to patient, family, and/or significant others according to protocol and organization guidelines. They communicate with physicians and other members of the health care team, documenting and communicating accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions. The role involves preparing and rooming patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information. Performing laboratory procedures, assisting providers with procedures and surgeries, administering medications, and initiating/maintaining IV therapy are key responsibilities. The RN assesses and provides patient education and counseling, follows through with necessary requests, and refers questions to the physician/provider. Advanced clinical tasks may be performed, and the RN may assist in staff orientation and educational activities, acting as a clinical resource. They may provide work direction to other staff and organize/prepare exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment is also required. The role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan and assessing data reflective of patient status.
