The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Family Medicine Clinic is responsible for engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families through the continuum of care. They monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team to influence care outcomes. The role upholds and promotes a culture of safety and continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed. Responsibilities may include administering medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols. The RN demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. They pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications, adhering to ethical decision-making and respecting interdisciplinary roles. The role involves appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and maintaining accurate, timely EHR documentation. The RN may be required to float to other units or facilities to meet patient care needs and must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served, including understanding of growth and development over the life span.
