About The Position

Horizon Surgery Center South located on the Baptist Medical Center South campus is an ambulatory surgery center in Jacksonville, Florida, focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered outpatient care. This center provides Orthopedics, ENT, Plastics and Urology surgeries (2OR) and procedures (2PR). The Operating Room RN provides direct patient care and serves as a patient advocate in the operating room. This role supports surgeons and anesthesia providers, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the perioperative process.

Requirements

Active RN license
Current BLS and ACLS certification
Associate’s degree or higher in nursing
Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-advocacy skills

Nice To Haves

Perioperative nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

Serve as circulating nurse, supporting patients, surgeons, and anesthesia staff during procedures
Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile, and efficient operating environment
Accurately assess patient needs, provide reassurance, and involve families in care decisions when appropriate
Collaborate with the surgical team and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues
Support patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives
Participate in staff education, orientation, and professional development
Organize and manage supplies, equipment, and staff for effective case management
