About The Position

RN Circulators will perform all job duties in compliance with laws and regulation in the observance of accrediting agency standards. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care thru the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Nurse will maintain standards of professional nursing care according to Standards, Recommended Practices and Guidelines of AORN, Inc.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing with Ohio Licensure.
  • Minimum of one year med/surg experience.
  • BLS Provider upon hire prior to start date.
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.

Nice To Haves

  • One year perioperative experience preferred.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • CNOR Certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate, educate) to provide and coordinate the nursing care of the patient undergoing operative procedures.
  • Performs assessments through data collection of patient`s physical and psychological status and health history.
  • Verifies patient identification, correct site, and correct surgical procedure. Performs a fire risk assessment and is knowledgeable of fire prevention.
  • Plans patient care through individualization of care and incorporates patient/family input. Implements physician orders, treatments, care plan interventions according to schedule in a timely manner.
  • Implements patient care including maintaining infection control, monitoring of equipment used, handling of specimens and performing counts of surgical items.
  • Evaluates and prioritizes patient care decisions.
  • Communicates relevant information to care provider.
  • Verifies procedure performed and wound classification with the surgeon.
  • Is knowledgeable of their role as a circulator as well as the scrub, second scrub and first assistant.
  • Participates and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Utilizes the medication administration system and is in compliance with requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
