About The Position

This position will provide onsite professional nursing services to adolescent male population incarcerated in Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) youth centers in Allegany and Garrett County. This position will provide medical direction to DJS staff within guidelines of the Nursing Practice Act, DJS standards, and Adolescent guidelines. This position will provide health care services to youth, and serves as the delegating RN to the Certified Medication Technicians in accordance with the Board of Nursing regulations. This position will document all medical services/care performed for clinic and camp files. This position will use PatTrac to enter activities for medical services. This position will provide 24/7 on-call phone coverage for the youth centers. Centers are in remote, rustic, wooded areas of Allegany and Garrett Counties. Travel on snow-covered roads will be required in winter.

Requirements

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a current multi-state license.
  • Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the Medical option.
  • Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
  • Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Master’s degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.
  • U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work.
