About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Cath Lab .75 FTE, 0700a-1730p in the Cardiac Cath Lab/EP Lab procedural RN helps support the care of patients under anesthesia. Roles and responsibilities include circulating cases, documenting care, and hemodynamic monitoring of patients. Other opportunities include training to scrub cases and learning electrophysiology. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e., Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), Value Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, Workforce Inclusion Diversity Equity and Access (IDEA) etc.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license that the RN is required to work in.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions at time of hire unless the incumbent possesses a current appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area.
  • BLS must be maintained in current status until the incumbent obtains the appropriate Life Support Life Support Education required for their practice area.
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers.
  • Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PALS within 3 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Cath Lab & Special Procedures, Clinical Research Center, Critical Care Float, Emergency Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Transport Control, Radiology (including Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Lab), Recovery Room (PACU) Excluding RNs working exclusively in fixed term contracts with no direct patient contact, Surgery (including Bellevue Surgery Center)

  • Preferred experience from the following area(s) 1) Cardiac Cath/EP labs 2) Critical Care- (ER/ICU/PACU) 3) Other procedural areas (IR/OR/GI Lab)
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Pediatric health care nursing experience.
