About The Position

Join our fast-paced 25-bed neuro specialty general care unit that offers an opportunity to advance your nursing skills utilizing evidence-based practice and become part of a collaborative team that encourages and helps one another to succeed. We are seeking a Registered Nurse – Care Team Leader: Neurosciences. Motivate and lead nursing staff while working in collaboration with the interprofessional team. Mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills. Facilitate and participate in daily interprofessional rounds. Care for a variety of medical and surgical adult neuro patients to include post-surgical spine surgeries, brain tumors, craniotomy and ophthalmology cases along with neurological patients with multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barre syndrome, and trauma or ortho patients with multiple injuries/diagnosis or spinal fractures requiring orthotics. Become part of our interdisciplinary team of stroke professionals. UW Health is proud to be a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program in WI with the ability to treat the most complex stroke cases in the state. Help provide the highest level of diagnosis and treatment options for those with epilepsy. This unit includes a Level IV Comprehensive Epilepsy Center as designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
  • Current CPR/BLS certification Required
  • 2 years experience in an inpatient unit Required
  • 2 years of combined work experience and leadership experience may be considered in lieu of two (2) years’ experience in an inpatient unit Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
  • 3 years experience in an acute care inpatient unit Preferred
  • Relevant RN experience with department-specific patient population Preferred
  • National certification in relevant specialty Preferred
