About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Telemetry Department at Texas Health Southwest provides telemetry and Med/Surg level of care for adult to geriatric patients. This 28-bed department operates as a MAGNET facility and a Level III Trauma Center. The role involves delivering care using the Nursing Process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, while incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures. The nurse will also maintain continuity of patient care between shifts and transfers, and initiate actions to meet patient and family information needs. The department offers a supportive, team environment with opportunities for educational and career growth, including leadership advancement, and features a 5:1 patient to nurse ratio.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibits understanding of basic human needs.
  • Demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Current Telemetry and/or Med/Surg experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
