About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Cardiac Telemetry at Texas Health Southwest will provide telemetry and Med/Surg level of care for adult to geriatric patients. This role operates within a 28-bed department, maintaining a 5:1 patient to nurse ratio on 12-hour night shifts. The facility is a MAGNET facility and a Level III Trauma Center, offering self-scheduling for work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibits understanding of basic human needs.
  • Demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Current Telemetry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
