About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Telemetry department at Texas Health Southwest will provide telemetry and Med/Surg level of care for adult to geriatric patients. This role is part-time, working 24 hours weekly with 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. The department is a 28-bed unit within a MAGNET facility and a Level III Trauma Center, offering a 5:1 patient to nurse ratio. The position emphasizes self-scheduling for work-life balance and requires adherence to the Nursing Process for patient care delivery.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire required
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Exhibits understanding of basic human needs.
Demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
