Provides nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 32-bed cardiac telemetry unit, including overflow IMCU patients and patients with cardiac, renal, pulmonary, surgical, vascular, and other medical/surgical needs. The position requires experience managing continuous IV medications, including cardiac drips, diuretics, anticoagulants, and insulin drips. First-time travelers are not accepted. Prior travel experience and experience managing continuous IV medications are required. The unit uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR. Nurses may float within the facility and their scope of practice as needed. Travelers typically do not manage Precedex; core staff manage those patients. Call is rare, with a two-hour response time. The schedule typically includes every other weekend, with travelers filling gaps after permanent staff are scheduled. Holiday work expectations depend on the number of major holidays within the assignment. Full compliance is required to start on time; otherwise, the start may be pushed back two weeks due to the biweekly orientation schedule. Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length. Local candidates are accepted at the same rate.
