About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Cardiac Surgery Stepdown unit (5 South) in Nashville, Tennessee. This is a day shift position (7a-7p) requiring a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. The 24-bed unit cares for adult patients recovering from complex cardiac surgery conditions, including those with Coronary Artery Disease, Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, and those who have undergone Pre- and Post-Cardiac Procedures such as CABG and Surgical Valve procedures. The unit offers a supportive, collaborative setting for nurses passionate about cardiac care and eager to grow their clinical expertise. Requirements

  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • 1 year of experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Responsibilities

  • Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
  • Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
