This specific position focuses on Cardiac Intensive Care, handling unstable critical patients, open heart surgery, general surgery, STEMI, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure/prone, and oncological surgery. The unit boasts a 2023 Beacon Designation, provides structured support for new nurses transitioning from novice to expert within their first two years, and integrates them into the open-heart recovery program. It supports the local community with quick STEMI recovery and comprehensive post-arrest care, along with various cardiac procedures. The unit emphasizes constant professional development, with a high number of certified nurses across three different certificate subspecialties. The team is a collective of highly motivated nurses dedicated to learning and evolving critical care nursing, supported by peer and managerial structures, and democratic staff input through a Unit Based Council.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN)
  • Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program (exceptions may be considered for candidates with more than two years of acute care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer)
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
