About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Burn Trauma, Intermediate Care - Medical/Surgical Unit. This unit is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate Care and Medical/Surgical unit, with 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate care and 17 beds for Medical/Surgical care. The patient population includes neurosurgery, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss patients. Nurses are trained to work both the intermediate and medical surgical sides. The nurse to patient ratio for Intermediate Care beds is 3 to 4, and for Medical/Surgical beds is 5 to 6. The RN will work collaboratively as part of a team to maintain and support nursing care standards and meet patient, family, and community healthcare needs. New graduate RNs are welcome and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, followed by a 6-month residency program. Experienced nurses moving into this specialty are also welcomed.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Registered nursing License (Required)
• Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• None required

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
• Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
