About The Position
This is a Full Time Registered Nurse position in the Behavioral Health Department at Texas Health Dallas. The department includes a busy outpatient clinic with Partial Hospital Programs and Intensive Out-Patient Program serving adults with co-occurring behavioral health and chemical dependency needs. Professional nurses collaborate with an inter-disciplinary team to ensure the safety and treatment of patients in the day hospital program. Nurses will participate in treatment team meetings and teach nursing groups three times a week for various patient groups.
Requirements
- Nursing Diploma required OR Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
- BCLS prior to hire
- BCPMHN upon hire required
- ACPI (30 days within hire)
- One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program required
- RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred
- One year of Behavioral Health experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
- Collaborate with inter-disciplinary team to ensure safety and treatment of patients
- Participate in treatment team meetings as needed
- Teach nursing groups three times a week for patients in women’s, co-ed, and chemical dependency groups
- Practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act
- Serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care
