About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health Department at Texas Health Dallas works in a busy outpatient clinic that includes Partial Hospital Programs and Intensive Out-Patient Programs. This role serves adults with co-occurring behavioral health and chemical dependency needs. The RN collaborates with an inter-disciplinary team to ensure patient safety and treatment within the day hospital program. Responsibilities include participating in treatment team meetings and teaching nursing groups three times a week for various patient groups.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma required OR Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
• BCLS prior to hire
• BCPMHN upon hire required
• ACPI (30 days within hire)
• One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program required
• RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred
• One year of Behavioral Health experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
• Collaborate with inter-disciplinary team to ensure safety and treatment of patients participating in day hospital program
• Participate in treatment team meetings as needed
• Teach nursing groups three times a week for patients in women’s, co-ed, and chemical dependency groups
• Practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act
• Serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care
