About The Position

This full-time evening position in Behavioral Health - Nursing Administration Intake involves coordinating patient intake activities and resources. The role requires evaluating the severity of illness for admissions to determine the appropriate level of patient care, reviewing physician orders for clinical appropriateness and completeness, and coordinating education for internal staff and external departments regarding the intake process. The position also involves conducting complex clinical reviews for medical necessity for various services.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient intake activities and resources.
  • Evaluate severity of illness for all elective, direct and urgent admissions to determine appropriate level of patient care.
  • Review physician orders for clinical appropriateness / completeness and proper admission status.
  • Coordinate education and development of internal staff and external departments to ensure understanding of intake review and approval process.
  • Conduct complex clinical review for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services requests for medical necessity.
