About The Position

Deliver compassionate, expert forensic care by conducting thorough physical examinations and medical histories that prioritize patient safety, emotional well-being, and trauma-informed support. Meticulously collect and preserve vital evidence, ensuring high-quality documentation and specimen handling to maintain legal integrity and support the justice process. Provide immediate, direct nursing interventions, including injury care, prophylactic medications, and seamless referrals to specialized facilities to guide patients through their recovery journey. Empower patients and families through clear communication, guiding them with empathy through evidence collection steps, treatment plans, and options for law enforcement reporting. Serve as a trusted advocate for survivors, offering expert courtroom testimony and partnering with support networks to champion patient rights throughout the legal process.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
  • Completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training SANE-A within 12 months and completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training SANE-P within 16 months, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification specializing in Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner credentialed from the International Association of Forensic Nurses preferred.
  • SANE trained preferred but will train otherwise.
  • Prefer 1 year or greater nursing experience.
  • Able to be flexible and adaptable and do 72 hours of call in a 6 week schedule predominantly on pm shift or night shift.
  • Must be able to take a week off of work Oct 5-9th to attend sane training unless already trained.
