The ASC Urology RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of patients undergoing surgical intervention. The RN provides planned, skilled nursing care for patients in the critical preoperative and postoperative periods. The RN provides assessment, patient surveillance, and timely administration of physician’s orders to prepare patients for procedures. The RN provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate emergency treatment of medical or surgical complications that may arise in any postoperative patient and will determine that the patient is suitable for discharge. The RN is also responsible for providing patients and family members with an additional opportunity for education and review of the postoperative instructions.
