About The Position

Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) is seeking a full-time Clinical Team Coordinator for their BP7 unit, an advanced acute care unit specializing in medical patients with diverse diagnoses, including those who may have undergone surgical or other procedures. This role offers an opportunity to work on a newer unit providing comprehensive experience. The position is scheduled for .9 FTE (36 hours) on Straight Nights. Geisinger Medical Center holds ANCC Magnet Recognition®, signifying the highest standards in nursing practice and patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree-Nursing (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years-Nursing (Required)
  • Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supervises the delivery of nursing care and activities on assigned unit.
  • Assists in developing, initiating, and supporting improvements on the unit level to facilitate high-quality, safe, and cost-effective patient care.
  • Ensures the highest level of care is provided and optimizes customer interactions to maximize patient satisfaction.
  • Provides direct patient care and direct supervision to assigned personnel.
  • Assists with the orientation and integration of new employees.
  • Conducts performance appraisals, monitors absenteeism, orders supplies, schedules 24-hour staffing, and performs patient and bed triage as appropriate.
  • Assists with addressing performance problems and initiating the disciplinary process.
  • Communicates pertinent information regarding patient care activities and operations to appropriate personnel.
  • Participates in the formulation of nursing policies and goals, as well as policies affecting other departments.
  • Communicates and interprets policies, procedures, and regulations to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Communicates significant issues on units to the Operations Manager in a timely manner.
  • Actively supports Magnet philosophies, including a healthy work environment, professional growth, and patient/family involvement in care decisions.
  • Provides feedback to staff or managers for professional practice issues.
  • Facilitates and promotes evidence-based practices and research activities.
  • Serves as a resource for unit issues, mentors staff, delegates actions appropriately, and creates an environment of participation.
  • Ensures staff meets regulatory requirements.
  • Assures effective, efficient, and cost-effective use of physical, financial, and human resources.
  • Assists with the prevention and resolution of patient and family concerns.
  • Assists the operations manager in conducting patient-focused service rounds on the assigned unit.
  • Follows up on incidents occurring on the assigned unit.
  • Assures proper documentation and follow-through.
