About The Position

Sentara Careplex Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse, Admission Hold Nurse Support for the Emergency Department. This role focuses on providing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation. The Emergency Department Transition to Practice program supports new nurses with intentional knowledge and skill acquisition for practice in the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department at Sentara CarePlex Hospital is equipped with 43 beds, including 11 fast-track beds, and is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and specially trained nurses with Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric certifications.

Requirements

  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
  • Minimum of 1 year inpatient nursing experience
  • RN-Associate’s Degree, or RN-Bachelor’s Degree, or RN-Diploma, or RN-Master’s Degree

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training in emergency care
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pediatric certifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
