About The Position

Sentara Careplex Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse, Admission Hold Nurse Support for the Emergency Department. This role focuses on providing nursing care through the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation. The RN will utilize critical thinking and adhere to standards of professional performance. The Emergency Department is equipped to provide exceptional emergency service with 43 beds, including 11 fast-track beds. Emergency physicians are board-certified, and all nurses have specialized training in emergency care, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric certifications. The Transition to Practice program supports new nurses in the Emergency Department with knowledge and skill acquisition.

Requirements

  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
  • RN-Associate’s Degree, or RN-Bachelor’s Degree, or RN-Diploma, or RN-Master’s Degree
  • Minimum of 1 year inpatient nursing experience

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pediatric certifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
  • Adhere to the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
