The Registered Nurse Administrative Supervisor is responsible for communicating administrative problems and actions taken to the respective nurse leader, Administrator-On-Call when appropriate, and/or the appropriate senior administrative leader. This role involves rounding on all units to assess overall efficiency and productivity, gaining insight into patient care, teammate, and physician satisfaction, and ensuring the appropriateness of patient care. The supervisor guides staff in understanding and compliance with state and federal laws concerning healthcare services and practice, the Nursing Practice Act, and company policies and procedures. They assist with coordination of communication through regular intervals via huddles, rounds, or other meetings to exchange information and promote dialogue. The role also assists with appropriate utilization of resources to meet patient care needs, supervises the performance of nursing personnel, identifies problems, initiates corrective action, and communicates/provides documentation to the appropriate department manager, Nurse Leader, and/or Administrator-On Call. Additionally, the supervisor provides advice and assistance to nurses, interprets policies and procedures, responds to emergencies, and coordinates shift management of patient flow/throughput, including participation in patient placement meetings and working with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate timely admissions and discharges. They also monitor staffing for current and upcoming shifts based on volume/acuity needs, utilizing resources like the Float Pool and PRN personnel or reallocating personnel as indicated.
