About The Position

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for their brand-new Acute Surgical Care unit on 10N. This 31-bed stepdown unit offers a unique opportunity to help build a new team from the ground up. Nurses will provide a stepdown level of care to adult patients either awaiting surgery or recovering post-operatively. The unit features a collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere. This is an inpatient/bedside position. The patient population includes Emergency General Surgery (EGS) Patients, Pre- and Post-Operative Surgical Patients, and Trauma and Med-Surg Overflow. Requirements

  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • 1 year experience

Nice To Haves

  • EGS, trauma, ED, or surgical floor experience a plus
  • Nurses who are flexible, motivated, and ready to grow

Responsibilities

  • Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
  • Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
