About The Position

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Unit at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. This role involves utilizing evidence-based practices to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex needs. The Critical Care Unit is a 24-bed unit with private rooms, equipped with advanced technology and electronic patient records. Staff work in collaborative, patient-centered environments with strong interdisciplinary teams. The position requires adherence to the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies, developing care plans that address the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing.
  • Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable.
  • One year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed registered nurse.
  • Experience of IV/line placement required.
  • ACLS certified.
  • 1 - 3 yr CCU experience required/med-surgical experience.
  • GNR considered.
  • Registered Nurse, State of CT.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.
  • Strong computer skills and use of industry applications/programs.
  • Ability to learn new technology and programs as advancements and changes are implemented.

  • Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital.
  • Develops a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.
  • Cares for a full patient assignment with expanding scope of responsibilities over time.
  • Acts as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed.
  • Manages and organizes multiple clinical priorities.
