About The Position

Fairview Range is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intensive Care unit in Hibbing, MN. The RN will deliver direct nursing care to patients as well as indirect care and also is responsible for unit operations for a shift when functioning as charge nurse. The Registered Nurse (RN) works alongside our Hospitalists to provide life-saving treatment to patients who are critically ill or injured. The ICU is adjacent to our Acute Care unit, treating medical/surgical/pediatric patients. Each patient room is equipped with telemed capabilities. This position is 48-60 hours per two weeks, 12-hour Day/Night shifts. Weekends: Every third weekend. The unit has 4 beds and is adjacent to a 28 bed medical/surgical/pediatric unit. The multidisciplinary care team includes hospitalists and sophisticated practice providers, RNs, LPNs, unit assistants, social workers, and RN case managers. Requirements

Current ICU experience. If no applicant meets the qualification consideration will be given to those with one year of medical/surgical experience.
Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) certification required and maintains certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) certification required and maintains certification within 90 Days
BCS within 90 Days
Pediatric Adv Life Support (American Heart Assoc) certification required and maintains certification within 180 Days
Completes training that meets trauma system criteria within 1 Year

Nice To Haves

A preference will be given to those who have current BLS, ACLS, and PALS
Bachelor's degree in nursing
Recent Critical Care or Emergency nursing experience, current pediatric experience, and current charge experience
Critical Care experience within the last 3 years

Responsibilities

Perform a total systems assessment according to established policies (including physical, psychosocial and spiritual data) upon admission, as well as ongoing assessments.
Demonstrating awareness of age-specific criteria in obtaining assessment data
Identifying patient needs and/or nursing diagnosis based on analysis of collected data and incorporating it into an individualized plan of care.
Analyzes assessment data, identifies problems and develops the plan of care in collaboration with the patient, significant other and resource personnel.
Identifying expected outcomes which are realistic, measurable and attainable.
Attending and facilitating discharge planning conferences to promote continued health care and optimal functioning upon discharge.
Participates in the interdisciplinary Patient Centered Care conference to promote wellness and optimal discharge plans
Providing age specific direct patient care in collaboration with all disciplines according to standards of care.
Directing team members in the implementation of care.
Utilizing critical care expertise to intervene in emergency situations as warranted.
Actively participating on the Rapid Response Team and Code Teams.
Recognizing and reports adverse patient condition to the physician in a timely manner.
Assessing the patients' response to treatment on identified outcome and revises the plan of care accordingly.
Documenting clinical and/or supportive data into the medical record per policy.
Provides an environment conducive to patient/family teaching.
Identifying patient/family knowledge/skill deficits and teaches accordingly to accommodate the family/patient needs related to illness, age and ability to learn.
Identifying alternative resources for education if necessary.
Utilizing EPIC patient education materials to effectively educate patients
