About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Acute Med Surg Department at Texas Health Fort Worth is responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning the care, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The role also involves incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiating actions to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information, and maintaining continuity of patient care across shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The unit is a 35-bed facility admitting patients with various acute medical-surgical diagnoses, including post-surgery, urology, limb salvage, chronic wounds, GI, diabetes, respiratory overflow, isolations, and airborne COVID cases, as well as general remote telemetry monitoring. The department is highlighted for its self-scheduling, opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and an engaged leadership team. It is known for its teamwork and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma Required
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • 1 Year Experience as a clinical nurse or completion of an RN residency program
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
  • Have basic computer skills using Medical management application systems

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • 2+ years strong Med/surg RN experience in acute care setting preferred
