The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Acute Med Surg Department at Texas Health Fort Worth is responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning the care, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The role also involves incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiating actions to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information, and maintaining continuity of patient care across shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The unit is a 35-bed facility admitting patients with various acute medical-surgical diagnoses, including post-surgery, urology, limb salvage, chronic wounds, GI, diabetes, respiratory overflow, isolations, and airborne COVID cases, as well as general remote telemetry monitoring. The department is highlighted for its self-scheduling, opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and an engaged leadership team.
