About The Position

The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit (3 South) at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center provides specialized care for patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions, including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post‑coronary interventions, post‑ablation care, and myocardial infarctions. The unit also manages pre‑ and post‑catheterization patients, as well as those experiencing acute stroke. Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. This is a Full Time DAY Shift position with hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, including a rotating weekend schedule. A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 is available for qualified candidates. Sentara offers a Registered Nurse Transition to Practice Program, a unique 6-month program for RNs with less than 12 months of experience or those transitioning to a new practice area. This program includes general nursing orientation, a specialty clinical track residency, professional development sessions, and mentoring with a unit-based preceptor. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
  • BLS within 90 days of hire
  • Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
  • NIH within 1 year of hire
  • Acute care nursing experience preferred
  • Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred
  • New Grad RNs welcome
