Requirements

  • Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington and graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing; AND two years of professional nursing experience.
  • Equivalent education/experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred, with supervisory or lead experience over nursing personnel.
  • Recent experience in ER, Adult ICU, or Adult Acute Care Nursing.
  • Strong communication and adult education skills to effectively educate staff and patients daily.
  • Ability to act as a first responder in emergent situations, often without immediate backup.
  • Critical thinking skills to assess emergencies, anticipate medical interventions, and perform procedures like EKGs, blood draws, and IV insertions.
  • Proficiency in using complex medical equipment, including IV pumps, EKGs, bladder ultrasound, vein finders, and Pyxis.
  • Expertise in wound care, staging pressure injuries, and using advanced dressings.
  • Desired certifications: ACLS, TNCC, and specialty certifications (CRRN, CERN, PCCN).

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized nursing procedures, including IV therapy and advanced wound care, utilizing the nursing process.
  • Assess patients for medical concerns identified through referrals or the Johnson’s Model Acuity System.
  • Provide follow-up care, track treatment progress, and support patients in achieving optimal health and functioning.
  • Ensure thorough and accurate documentation of medical issues in the Medical Record.
  • Educate RN/LPN staff on nursing priorities, leadership directives, and just-in-time training needs.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for ward staff by providing education, nursing orders, and treatment plan updates.
  • Respond to medical crises and emergencies, assisting ward nursing staff until emergency responders arrive.
  • Participate in departmental and hospital-wide committees, providing input on medical nursing care, and perform other duties as assigned.
