The Registered Nurse 1 delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring population-specific patient care. This role involves assessing assigned patients, evaluating plans, documenting nursing care, and reporting symptoms and changes in patients’ condition. The nurse will modify treatment plans, review diagnostic tests, and consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations and procedures, administering medications, and communicating the plan of care to patients, families, and team members. The role also involves assisting with discharge planning, managing assignments to render superior patient care, adapting to changing work demands, operating medical equipment, and adhering to University policies and procedures. Department-specific functions include patient triage, managing clinic schedules, obtaining vital signs, documenting patient histories, managing clinic flow, inventory management, performing screening tests and EKGs, phlebotomy, specimen handling, data entry into Smartsheets and Excell, and regular monitoring of Epic, Secure Chat, and UM email. Occasional weekend work for events and attendance at mandatory clinical operations meetings are also part of the role.
