About The Position

The Registered Dietitian evaluates residents’ nutritional status and implements individualized nutrition care plans. The role guides the culinary team in providing balanced meals that support residents’ health and vitality, and collaborates with onsite interdisciplinary teams to ensure nutritional adequacy and compliance with applicable regulations. This is a full-time, flexible-schedule opportunity in Utica, New York, and is not remote.

Requirements

Active registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Valid and active New York State license.
Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field.
Strong clinical skills and critical-thinking abilities.
Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
Interest in the nutrition and health care needs of older adults and chronically ill individuals, and ability to work with both.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a long-term care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct onsite, comprehensive nutritional assessments for residents.
Develop individualized nutrition care plans and ensure their implementation.
Collaborate with onsite interdisciplinary teams to ensure nutritional adequacy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Assist the Food Service Director with managing costs, overseeing food preparation and service, and developing department staffing plans.
Educate residents, families, and staff on nutritional requirements and healthy eating habits.
Monitor and evaluate residents’ nutritional status and adjust care plans as necessary.
