About The Position

Wolf Creek Care Center is seeking a passionate and motivated Full-time Registered Dietitian to join our dedicated team! This role is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the kitchen, ensuring all health, compliance, and competency requirements are met. The position involves direct participation in meal preparation and service, maintaining food quality, managing the department budget, and overseeing dietary staff. The Registered Dietitian will also be responsible for planning special meals, ensuring proper food storage and handling, processing diet orders, assessing resident needs, preparing staff schedules, maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, coordinating with other departments, participating in quality assurance meetings, and providing in-service education. Additionally, the role includes investigating workplace injuries, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining department security, visiting residents for nutritional assessments, and attending morning meetings to facilitate communication. The Registered Dietitian will assess nutritional needs, develop dietary care plans, provide nutritional counseling, monitor food services operations, inspect diet trays, and consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The ability to relate positively and effectively with residents, families, staff, and colleagues is essential.

Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian with Commission of Dietetic Registration or eligible.
  • Licensed Dietitian in your local state.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team-oriented culture

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience in a clinical health care setting or completion of an accredited internship.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to meet all health, compliance, and competency requirements.
  • Direct and participate in the preparation and service of meals that are safe, appetizing, and meet prescribed dietary needs
  • Maintain food quality, portion control, and compliance with approved menus and physician orders
  • Manage department budget, control costs, and order food and supplies appropriately
  • Plan and assist with special meals for holidays and facility events
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate dietary staff; handle disciplinary actions and terminations as needed
  • Ensure proper food storage and handling practices in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Process new diet orders and updates; maintain accurate diet cards and resident records
  • Assess resident food preferences, allergies, and nutritional risks; complete monthly nutritional notes
  • Prepare staff schedules and adjust for coverage needs
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and storage environment
  • Conduct regular inspections of the dietary department for safety and cleanliness
  • Coordinate dietary services with nursing and activities departments
  • Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings
  • Present in-service education programs for dietary staff
  • Investigate workplace injuries and implement corrective actions or retraining
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
  • Maintain department security and confidentiality of resident information
  • Visit residents to conduct nutritional assessments, explain diets, and promote quality food service
  • Attends and participates in morning meetings/stand up to facilitate communications with the team.
  • Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans in order to develop and implement dietary care plans and provides nutritional counseling as needed.
  • Monitor food services operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation and quality standards, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor food control systems such as food temperatures, portion control, preparation methods, garnishment and presentation of food in order to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner.
  • Inspect diet trays for conformance to physician’s diet orders prior to delivery.
  • Consult with physicians and other health care personnel (Dialysis Dietitians, Nurse Practitioners, etc.) to determine diet restrictions and nutritional needs of residents.
  • Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients/residents, families, staff and professional colleagues.
  • Responsible for the overall supervision and management of dietary staff, including scheduling, training, performance evaluation, and compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
