The Registered Dietitian will develop and implement a plan of care for patients based on an assessment of nutritional needs that correlates with interdisciplinary healthcare plans. This role involves using physical, clinical, and laboratory data to complete assessments, including calculations for nutrition requirements and nutrient content of enteral and parenteral feedings, and making sound recommendations for optimal nutrition. The dietitian will review physician's diet orders, determine their alignment with clinical data, and communicate with physicians regarding patient nutritional care. Responsibilities include documenting assessments, recommended medical nutrition therapy, care plans, consultation results, discharge planning recommendations, and nutrition orders in the patient's medical record. Additionally, the role involves providing nutrition education through individual and group teaching to patients, staff, and the community, counseling patients and families on proper nutrition, and maintaining accurate records of daily clinical activities for scheduling and billing. The Registered Dietitian will also provide day-to-day training and supervision for Graduate Dietitians and assist in the education of dietetic interns/students by planning learning experiences, teaching, and evaluating performance. This position requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding principles of growth and development, and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
