Inpatient perdiem opportunity. Day position to include a minimum of 40 hours per month, to include some weekday, weekend and holiday coverage, training/orientation to include one week. The Registered Dietitian, under the direction of the coordinator, provides clinical nutrition services to patients by providing medical nutrition therapy, performing all components of the Nutrition Care Process (including nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention, and nutrition monitoring and evaluation), and formulating/calculating modified diets (including oral diets, enteral nutrition, and parenteral nutrition). Ensures patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations are achieved through the safe and efficient use of resources. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assesses nutritional status of patients and identifies nutrition problems/diagnoses as appropriate. Develops and implements nutrition care plans utilizing appropriate nutrition interventions (including oral diets, oral nutrition supplements, enter nutrition, parenteral nutrition, referral to other services/community agencies). Monitors the effectiveness of nutrition interventions, evaluates patient outcomes, and revises nutrition care plan as needed. Educates/counsels patients/families individually or in groups on therapeutic diets and nutrition principles, and nutrition care plan/discharge plan. Communicates/collaborates with members of the health care team regarding nutrition care plans and discharge needs/plans through participation in unit rounds/SNAP huddles, family meetings and 1:1 dialogue with members of the health care team. Completes all required documentation, reports, and productivity logs in an accurate and timely manner. Orients/trains/mentors/precepts students, interns, staff, and other professionals. Participates in department and organizational performance improvement/quality activities/initiatives, research, and assigned committees, councils, and/or task forces. Advises the Nutritional Services Department on patient nutritional care/food allergies, modified diets/menus based on current diet manual, and food service issues. Represents the Clinical Nutrition department by responding to media requests, participating in outreach activities, and promoting sound nutrition throughout the organization.
