About The Position

Under direct supervision, identifies patients at nutritional risk, plans and implements medical nutrition therapy for assigned populations. Collaborates with the Food Service department to provide nutritionally appropriate menus, food options, and services for patients. Collaborates with physicians, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare team members/departments to determine, coordinate, and provide medical nutrition therapy. Performs daily operational tasks, including review of diet, TPN and NPO lists and completing calorie counts. Provides continuum of care in both in and outpatient settings. Utilizes current research to enhance professional practice to participate and collaborate in PI initiatives. Assesses patient's nutritional status and needs. Develops and implements patient care plans and assesses patient responses. Assesses educational needs in order to advise patients and/or family on restricted or special diets in nutritional principles and dietary plans. Adapts these diets to the patient’s medical condition, lifestyle and preferences, evaluates achievement of learning objectives and provides appropriate follow-up.

Requirements

  • Masters (Required)
  • Dietitian/Nutritionist License (ND LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • Registered Dietitian CDR Certification (CDR) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • No experience required.
  • Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required for those individuals that are registered or have established eligibility for the registration examination for dietitians on or before December 31, 2023.
  • A minimum of a master’s degree is required for those seeking eligibility for the registration examination for dietitians for the first time, on or after January 1, 2024.
  • Registered Dietitian CDR Certification or Registration Eligible, RDN and obtain registration and FL Dietitian/Nutritionist license within six (6) months of hire.
