About The Position

This part-time Registered Dietician position at the Dept of Veterans Services, Puller Veterans Center, involves managing the clinical nutrition system to ensure optimal nutrition for all residents. The role supports the Food Service Director and is responsible for various administrative and operational tasks within the Dietary department. The position emphasizes a commitment to resident care, positive working relationships, and adherence to the agency's Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical Dietetics
  • Certified Dietary Manager required
  • Driver’s License required
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (excluding current DVS employees).

Responsibilities

  • Manages clinical nutrition system to ensure optimum nutrition for all residents.
  • Interviews new admissions.
  • Develops initial nutritional care plans and reviews them quarterly.
  • Attends resident care conferences and ensures that all areas in the care plan are being carried through.
  • Has a basic understanding of operations of the Food Service Department.
  • Knowledgeable of budget controls, personnel actions, quality food production, sanitation, safety and nutritional care, hiring, terminations, orientating, training, and counseling of department employees and work schedules.
  • Supports the Food Service Director when necessary.
  • Enters all budget figures, menus, nutritional information and dietary notes.
  • Trains Dietary Service Program Assistant in entering budget figures, menus, resident care and dietary notes.
  • Works with the Food Service Director in purchasing, production and service of food in a timely manner.
  • Assists in purchasing supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned that are within the Dietary department’s mission and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility.
  • May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
