About The Position

The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) performs patient care, office, and laboratory duties, primarily assisting the dentist in helping patients commit to the best possible treatment with urgency. The role includes supporting the patient experience, preparing patients and treatment areas, assisting during dental procedures, and helping patients understand treatment and oral-health care. The RDA must follow applicable state and federal safety, infection-control, and permitted-duty requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent, and state-mandated training courses for certification, licensure, or registration.
Certifications, licenses, or registrations mandated by the applicable state, such as coronal polish, radiograph exposure, ultrasonic scaling for orthodontic procedures, or pit and fissure sealant application.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or one-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Assist the dentist as necessary to help patients commit to the best possible treatment with urgency.
Participate in the Perfect Patient Experience by keeping patients focused on optimal treatment while attending to their individual needs and concerns.
Maintain a clean, sterile, and cheerful environment; prepare patients for treatment and assist doctors in providing efficient, quality dental treatment.
Complete patient x-rays and intra-oral pictures at the direction of the dentist.
Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral-health care at the direction of the dentist.
Sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment, and operatories in accordance with American Dental Association guidelines.
Maintain compliance with applicable state, federal, and other regulations and policies, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and HR requirements.
