About The Position

Riverside Healthcare is seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Cardiac Sonographer to join our dynamic regional Cardiac Diagnostic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality echocardiographic studies to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions. This role requires a deep understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology, as well as the ability to use advanced imaging technology. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to patient care, attention to detail, and continuous learning in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and echocardiology interpretive parameters
  • Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Sonography or Echo School.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Current registration as a Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS or RCS) required upon hire.
  • Must maintain compliance with all state and facility regulations as well as maintain registry status for employment.
  • Speech: Required to communicate via telephone, facilitate meetings, presentations/training.
  • Vision: Needed to read memos and literature, CIS information. Also needed to assess patients and see the locations of patients and equipment.
  • Hearing: Needed for telephone communication, meetings and listening to concerns and patient assessment information, blood pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Any clinical experience within a fast paced hospital setting in cardio diagnostics.
  • Experience with Holter monitors and event recorders is highly desirable.
  • Certification in Holter Monitoring and Event Recorder technology preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality echocardiograms, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography, M-mode, 2D, Doppler, and color flow imaging.
  • Accurately obtain and record measurements and images of cardiac structures and function for adults and pediatric patients.
  • Perform stress echocardiography, contrast echocardiography procedures, and assist with transverse esophageal echocardiography as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret sonographic data.
  • Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Starts IVs for imaging procedures.
  • Takes call for emergency testing on evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Apply Holter monitors and event recorders to patients, ensuring proper electrode placement.
  • Educate patients on the use and care of monitoring devices.
  • Maintain equipment, ensuring cleanliness, proper function, and timely replacement of components.
  • Provide compassionate care, ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures.
  • Educate patients and their families about procedures, findings, and follow-up care as needed.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Adapt to changing work assignments within the scope of practice within professional scope/ duties/ licensure.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of supplies related to cardiac sonography, including ordering and restocking as necessary
  • Demonstrate initiative in continued learning and clinical development.
  • Support echo services offered at the main hospital campus and outreach locations.
