Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, plus completion of an accredited cardiac sonography program.
• Adult echocardiography experience or completion of a clinical rotation in the field.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS – ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS – CCI) required.
• Current BLS certification.
• Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, ultrasound technology, and patient positioning; keen eye for detail; ability to operate equipment safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures including 2D, M-Mode, Doppler (pulsed, continuous, color flow), transesophageal, and contrast studies—ensuring accuracy in every scan.
• Document findings, create preliminary reports, and immediately communicate urgent, life-threatening results to the cardiologist.
• Assist cardiologists during invasive procedures such as transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and emergency interventions.
• Stay current with the latest advances in echocardiography, mentor peers and students, and help enhance departmental processes and technology.
• Prepare patients with professionalism, compassion, and technical excellence to ensure a comfortable, reassuring experience.
