About The Position

Delta Specialty Hospital, the leading psychiatric inpatient treatment hospital in the Memphis, TN, area, is seeking a passionate Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) to make a difference. We provide comprehensive care for adolescents and adults struggling with substance abuse, addiction, and a wide range of mental health disorders. Our inpatient services cater to adults with mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and those impacted by PTSD or trauma. We also offer an inpatient senior care program for older adults with memory problems and other age-related concerns, as well as outpatient care for adults 18 and older. Every patient receives a personalized treatment plan addressing their unique history, strengths, needs, and goals.

Requirements

  • Registered Behavioral Technician certification required.
  • CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
  • High school degree required.
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with individuals with IDD, one year preferred.
  • Experience developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with pediatric and adolescent populations
  • Clinical competence in providing high-quality ABA services in a structured setting
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • Some college in the helping professions (social work, psychology, sociology, etc.) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans as developed by the supervising BCBA.
  • Provide direct therapy services in accordance with ABA principles and ethical guidelines.
  • Collect accurate and timely data on patient progress and behavior targets.
  • Assist in skill acquisition programs including communication, social skills, daily living skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Support behavior reduction strategies using positive reinforcement and evidence-based interventions.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, clinical team members, and caregivers regarding progress and concerns.
  • Participate in ongoing supervision, team meetings, and training as required.
  • Complete documentation and session notes in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Implement behavioral modification techniques that are individualized and outlined in the patient's behavioral support plan (BSP).
  • Review and apply treatment techniques outlined in assessments such as Preference Assessment, Functional Assessment Interview, and Essential for Living Assessment for skill building.
  • Data collection and entry into assessment to demonstrate treatment effectiveness.
  • Work directly with and under an ABA therapist to implement, track, update, and modify the patient’s BSP.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency related to patient safety and providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment.
  • Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision is conducted at 15-minute intervals, or in accordance with individualized supervision guidelines.
  • Document timely, accurate, and appropriate clinical information in the patient's medical record.
  • Assist in providing a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for patients, significant others, and staff.
  • Monitor patient safety through required rounds and timely completion.
  • Ensure patient rooms are clean and uncluttered.
  • Perform assigned observations, which may include 15-minute checks, within reach of the patient, and/or 1:1 patient care.
  • Obtain patient’s vital signs, height, and weight as assigned and document accurately in the patient record.
  • Identify self to patients and visitors promptly and respond to patient requests quickly.
  • Engage with patients in activities and interactions designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals.
  • Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and attempt to understand the source of distress.
  • Apply de-escalation techniques to help manage patient’s emotions, behavior, and participation in treatment.
  • Assist with seclusion and restraint when necessary.
  • Provide safety and increase coping skills of patients as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assist in developing strategies for helping patients to be as independent as possible.
  • Monitor behavioral improvements and reinforce these behaviors.
  • Report changes and responses to treatment by communicating with the team; significant changes are reported to the nurse immediately.
  • Reinforce skills patients learn from nurses, physicians, and therapists that promote improved physical and mental wellness.
  • Oversee or assist patients with activities of daily living, including toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, meals, snacks, hydration, and changing bed linens, as needed.
  • Help with admissions and discharges if needed.
  • Lead or co-lead individual or group sessions as part of specific recreational or therapeutic procedures.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
