About The Position

The Arc of the Ozarks is hiring Registered Behavior Technicians to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and significant behavioral support needs. This is more than a traditional clinic-based RBT position. You may work across residential, community, in-home, and site-based settings while helping individuals strengthen communication, daily living skills, relationships, community participation, and independence. You will receive support from BCBAs and experienced program leaders, role-specific training, and opportunities to grow within a stable, mission-driven nonprofit organization. RBTs provide the consistent, hands-on support that turns BCBA-designed treatment plans into meaningful daily progress. In this role, you may help someone communicate a need, complete a daily living task more independently, develop social skills, participate in the community, or reduce barriers caused by challenging behavior. Your work will directly support safety, dignity, choice, independence, and quality of life for the people served by The Arc.

Requirements

Current Registered Behavior Technician certification, or eligibility for approved certification sponsorship
High school diploma or GED
Ability to provide in-person services in Joplin
Ability to work an agreed-upon schedule within the Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. timeframe
Comfort supporting adults with significant behavioral support needs
Ability to follow detailed behavior support plans and intervention procedures
Ability to collect and document data accurately
Ability to remain calm, professional, and consistent during high-intensity situations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with BCBAs, supervisors, caregivers, and team members
Respect for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Commitment to ethical, person-centered, and trauma-informed support
Willingness to complete required training and maintain required credentials

Nice To Haves

Current RBT certification in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
Experience providing ABA or behavior support services
Experience supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Experience implementing behavior support plans
Experience supporting individuals with aggression, self-injury, or other significant behavioral needs
Experience collecting behavioral or skill-acquisition data
Interest in continued professional growth within ABA or developmental disability services

Responsibilities

Provide direct behavior support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Implement individualized behavior support plans and skill-acquisition programs under supervision
Teach communication, social, adaptive, community, and daily living skills
Help individuals increase independence and participate more fully in their communities
Support individuals who may experience aggression, self-injury, impulsivity, or other significant behavioral needs
Use calm, respectful, consistent, and person-centered approaches during challenging situations
Collect accurate behavioral and skill-acquisition data during sessions
Complete required documentation and service records accurately and on time
Communicate progress, concerns, and relevant updates with BCBAs, supervisors, caregivers, and team members
Build respectful relationships that support choice, dignity, safety, and quality of life
Participate in supervision, training, treatment-planning meetings, and professional development
Follow all behavior plans, safety procedures, ethical standards, and RBT scope-of-practice requirements
