This job is responsible for leading and supporting employees through onboarding and core programs and upskill programs. Key responsibilities include identifying effective behaviors, implementing management routines, and tools/resources to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout the Academy experience. Job expectations include partnering with leadership to drive employee development and increase speed to proficiency through virtual/in-person skill development, practice sessions, simulator workshops, knowledge assessments, and one-on-one coaching. This role is responsible for coaching and supporting candidates through the securities licensing journey, including preparation for the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, Series 66, and other required regulatory examinations. The Registered Academy Manager monitors candidate progress, identifies performance risks, and implements strategies to strengthen exam readiness, improve licensing outcomes, and accelerate speed-to-role productivity. A key focus of the role is creating an engaging candidate experience through proactive communication, structured check-ins, study plan support, office hours, exam readiness discussions, and timely guidance. The Registered Academy Manager helps candidates stay accountable, navigate challenges, build confidence, and remain connected to the resources and routines that enable successful licensing outcomes. Registered Academy Managers partner closely with team managers, market leaders, and stakeholders across Consumer Investments, Merrill, and Private Bank to deliver individualized coaching, performance reporting, risk mitigation, and candidate engagement throughout the licensing process. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Merrill Wealth Management, Consumer Investments, or Private Bank
  • Series 7 & 66 (or equivalent) is required
  • Strong written, verbal, and active listening skills
  • Passion for coaching and developing others to support performance, growth, and role success
  • Organizational and project management skills, including prioritization, complexity, and delivery in a regulated environment
  • Solutions-focused and resilient, with ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities

Responsibilities

  • Manage cohorts of licensing candidates across Consumer Investments, Merrill, and Private Bank throughout the securities licensing journey to completion.
  • Conduct individualized coaching sessions to identify performance barriers, create action plans, and improve exam readiness.
  • Monitor candidate pacing, exam performance, milestones, and engagement to identify risks and implement strategies that improve retention, licensing success, and time-to-completion.
  • Deliver topic review sessions, office hours, and exam readiness workshops to reinforce curriculum and improve outcomes.
  • Provide timely, transparent updates and coaching recaps to managers and business stakeholders.
  • Analyze feedback and performance trends to recommend curriculum and candidate experience enhancements.
  • Support governance, reporting routines, escalations, risk mitigation, and process improvements that strengthen licensing readiness, operational excellence, and workforce productivity.
  • Facilitates onboarding, core and/or upskill Academy programs (virtually), inclusive of delivering assessments, managing practice pods, conversation coaching, practice sessions, and workshops
  • Identifies behavior and proficiency gaps, develops action plans, and coaches participants to ensure successful completion of training programs and achievement of milestones
  • Manages program outreach, coordination, logistics, communications, and calendar planning, escalations, and ensures teammates have access to technology
  • Partners with Academy content design teammates to provide feedback on content, curriculum, and programs
  • Ensures adherence to risk culture by enforcing internal and regulatory policies, procedures, and processes throughout new to role programs
  • Participates in Line of Business (LOB) leadership routines and initiatives, providing stakeholders with feedback on teammate development and program updates
